WELCOME TO THE NMC!
God's Gift, My Response
2009 NMC Theme, by Rick Jett
When she learned I was going to be the president of the convention, Marsha
Relyea Miles’ told my wife, “Each president must ask themselves what unique thing is it that
I bring to this convention that the Lord would allow me this opportunity?”After much prayer and soul searching, I believe God has given me this opportunity in order to magnify His grace in my life. Everyday I become more and more aware that it is only by His grace I accomplish anything. His love and grace is what stokes my desire to demonstrate love and grace to others around me.
Ephesians 2:4-10 (NIV)
4But because of his great love for us, God, who is rich in mercy, 5made us alive with Christ even when we were dead in transgressions—it is by grace you have been saved. 6And God raised us up with Christ and seated us with him in the heavenly realms in Christ Jesus, 7in order that in the coming ages he might show the incomparable riches of his grace, expressed in his kindness to us in Christ Jesus. 8For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith—and this not from yourselves, it is the gift of God— 9not by works, so that no one can boast. 10For we are God's workmanship, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do.
In our text, Ephesians 2: 4-10, Paul makes it very clear that our salvation is a gift from God. It is by grace alone. We have nothing to boast about when it comes to our salvation. The magnitude of God’s gift demands my response. First our response should be one of faith accepting God’s gift. Secondly, we should continually offer sacrifices of praise to God by proclaiming the glory of his name. Love and gratitude become the motivating factors for our service.
God’s gift is so wonderful and amazing that I can not keep it to myself. I must share it with others.
Attend this year’s convention, “God’s Gift, My Response” to begin living out your response to His Grace.
