 Our Leadership
David Empson
David Empson was raised in Columbus, Indiana.  While working at Hilltop Christian Service Camp in Brown County, Indiana, David felt a call on his life to serve in full-time Christian ministry.

After graduating from Kentucky Christian University, David served as a youth minister in Herrin, IL; Versailles, KY; and fourteen years at the Hazelwood Christian Church, Clayton, IN.  It was during the years at Hazelwood, leading teens on mission trips that missions became a bigger part in David's heart.

David created the Windows of the World teen program of the National Missionary Convention in 1998 and in 2001 became the Teen Director of the NMC.   The Windows program emphasized an interactive weekend, bringing youth and missions together.  It was the wisdom and experience of the missionaries that would inspire youth to seek God's will for their life.

In 2004, David was named to succeed Walter Birney as the next Executive Director of the NMC.  In 2008, the home office of the NMC moved to Hazelwood thanks to the generosity of the Hazelwood Christian Church.   David now serves as the Executive Director of the NMC.

In 1981, David married his wife, Sherree Hunt, after graduating from KCU.  Sherree is a reading specialist for the local public school.  They have two daughters, Emily, a student at Kentucky Christian University.  And Jenny, a student at Atlanta Christian College.  They are still active in many activities at the Hazelwood Church.
Russell Johnson
Russell was formerly the Assistant to the President for Leadership Development at his alma mater, Kentucky Christian University. He has been involved with KCU as a student, Dean of Student Services, Trustee and supporter for more than 30 years. Most of his adult life has been woven with the university and her efforts to train leaders.

Russell is currently using his gifts as the Director of Leadership Development for the National Missionary Convention.
David Butts
David received a Bachelor of Arts degree from Lincoln Christian College in 1975, and Bachelors (1978) and Masters (1982) from Indiana State University. He served as Associate Minister at several Terre Haute churches, before moving in 1982 to become Senior Minister of Kansas Christian Church, Kansas, Illinois. It was in Kansas that David's passion for prayer and missions began to develop. He has served, and continues to serve, in numerous leadership capacities, and on Boards of Directors and committees. Listed most recently, first:

-Sec./Treas, Denominational Prayer Leaders' Network

Greg Pruett
Greg frequently shares with the PBT worldwide team that "prayer is the strategy." Greg leads Pioneer Bible Translators as a man of prayer, vision, enthusiasm, and determination. All of these qualities allowed the Pruetts' ministry in West Africa to thrive. Whether it was their translation work, literacy classes, evangelistic outreach, front porch medical clinic, clean water initiatives, or agricultural development, God used the Pruett family to transform lives in an area of West Africa and help begin a movement to Christ among followers of another world religion that will impact generations to come.

Greg has a degree in Civil Engineering from Texas A & M University, a Masters from Fuller Theological Seminary, and training in applied linguistics from SIL. He is currently a doctoral student at Fuller Theological Seminary. Greg had the honor of serving as president of the 2003 National Missionary Convention. These educational and leadership experiences have enhanced the abilities God has placed in Greg.

Greg is a dynamic speaker, often speaking on the Biblical Theology of Mission, vision-casting for what God is doing around the world in Missions, or sharing vivid stories of incredible field experiences. You won't want to miss an opportunity to spend time with Greg Pruett and hear him inspire people to serve Christ with their lives.
